Day 4 Ding Junhui v Alan McManus

Frame 1: Scrappy start to this one, opening up a little for McManus a 47 consisting of blues lovely start 1-0.

Frame 2: Frame winning break from Ding century clearance 131 brilliant 1-1.

Frame 3: 46 from McManus Ding can tie, McManus goes on to win the frame with a nice 40 good standard 2-1 to the Scot.

Frame 4: 2nd go at the table in this frame for Ding making a good go of it a 67 up to the black 2-2.

Frame 5: A great 61 from Ding, then 31 3-2

Frame 6: Clearance of 129 fabulous 4-2 Ding

Frame 7: 5-2 now the Chinese sensation getting away and wasting no time in doing so 51 4 in a row

Frame 8: Tight frame won by Ding with a 31 break 6-2.

Frame 9: 41 from McManus then missed red in middle, 81 to finish six in a row 7-2.

2nd session

Frame 10: The rot has stopped 14-67  7-3 Ding though

Frame 11: 0-78 (64), 7-4 Ding

Frame 12: 38-65, 7-5

Frame 13: 75-0 (75), 8-5

Frame 14: 85-42, 9-5

Frame 15: 67-31 10-5


Ding Junhui showed why many pundits make him a World Championship contender by taking a 7-2 lead over Alan McManus in their first-round match.

The Chinese star trailed the veteran Scot 1-0 and 2-1 but a flawless break of 131 and a 67 levelled it at 2-2.



"I have got a sneaky suspicion for Ding this year. His temperament has impressed me over the last few years and his talent is not in doubt - there is no-one better when he is in the balls."


A magnificent 129 and further breaks of 61, 51 and 81 helped the world number nine make it six frames in a row ahead of their second session on Wednesday.
