Day 2 Graeme Dott v Peter Ebdon

Good morning!

Former champ Dott v Ebdon who can still play top quality snooker

Match Score: Graeme Dott 6-2 Peter Ebdon - first to 10 goes through **

Frame 1: Dott took it with a break of 80

Frame 2: 45-11 to Graeme at the current stage 4 reds left, 20 more scored by Graeme 2-0.

Frame 3: Peter is in the balls here, Graeme on 12 missed the black off the spot, scrappy frame safety battle at the moment one for the hardy souls this one, green to black left one point in frame, after a shot which Ebdon hit unfortunately went wrong Dott potted the green then missed the brown, Ebdon pots brown & blue and a harsh kiss leaves a tough pink, safety and Ebdon pots pink 2-1.

Frame 4: 52 for Graeme ran out of position after red cannoned into black, add a winning break of 55 up to the brown 3-1.

Frame 5: Dott with a 20 to start all colours on spots reds in the pack, Ebdon edges ahead and is in the balls, tip-tap at the moment 2 reds and all colours left, Ebdon gets a extra 7pts, and wins the frame on points 62-24 3-2 to Dott.

Frame 6: A break of 28 for Dott then he rolls up behind the yellow, Dott 50 pts ahead Ebdon needs snookers, 4-2 to Dott.

Frame 7: Dott is up past the 50 mark now as he looks to close this session out. A break of 74 is enough to see the frame out. 5-2.

Frame 8: An early break of 12 for the Scot, Dott gets the upper hand in the safety exchange and builds a break meaning that he is 37 ahead with 35 remaining but has to play safe as the last red is un-potable. Ebdon, obviously needs one snooker. Dott passes up two chances to pot the final red and confirm the frame. Ebdon steps in and sinks the red to the green pocket and then the black to centre right. He attempts to lay a snooker. Ebdon definitely having the better of the safety exchange here and he gets the four required meaning there is 27 left with him 25 behind.  However, Ebdon leaves the yellow available, Dott capitalises and clears to the blue to ensure he has a four frame advantage.

A turgid morning saw Dott take a well-deserved 3-1 advantage to the mid-session interval as Ebdon struggled for any sort of fluency.

Dott took the first frame courtesy of a 60 break and ground out the second 65-11 but Ebdon re-grouped and managed to cut the arrears by winning a scrappy third frame on the pink.
Two half-century plus breaks of 52 and 55 in the fourth frame ensured that Dott went to the mid-session interval with a two frame advantage.

Ebdon, the 2002 winner of the tournament, was horribly out of sorts but it is testament to his grit that he won the fifth frame but he could not prevent Dott taking the next 66-12, which was again a scrappy affair.

The 2006 Crucible winner made a break of 70 to seal the penultimate frame to take firm control of the session and he managed to come out on top in the last frame of the session after a tense safety exchange to lead by four going into the next session.

** They will complete this match 1000 Monday.
